4 Desert Challenge 2010

The Challenge: To become the first woman to complete the 4 Desert Challenge in one calendar year. It is a series of seven-day, 250-kilometer (155 mile) self-supported races across the largest and most forbidding deserts on Earth, carrying all of our own equipment, food and clothes (weighing about 20 lbs!!).

The races are:

Atacama Crossing, Chile        7th - 13th March     (completed)

Gobi March, China                  27th June - 3rd July (completed)

Sahara Race, Egypt               3rd - 9th October  (completed)

The Last Desert, Antartica     17th - 23rd November (completed)

Why?: To raise as much money as possible for Macmillan Cancer Support. Unfortunately, 1 in 3 people in their lives will be affected by Cancer one way or another.  Tragically, my father lost his short battle with the horrible disease in August 2007 and i'm doing this challenge in his memory.

You will be able to follow my progress across the sand dunes, salt flats and snow via the race blogs.
